February half term is just around the corner and there are lots of brilliant events for families to enjoy in Bristol. Outdoor adventures, theatre, craft workshops, cultural events and lots more activities for all ages. So whether you're a Bristol local or you're just visiting, take a look at our handy events guide and plan a half term filled with fun.
Kick off half term by catching the end of this annual arts event in the city centre. Astronauts in the cathedral, giant inflatable arches, giant flowers, mirror installations and, of course, the neon swings! All ages will love exploring the light installations and it makes for a fun night out with the family.

2. Clifton Observatory Scavenger Hunt
Head up to Clifton and take part in their half term scavenger hunt with lots of fun clues about the observatory and the surrounding area. Ticket includes full access to the attractions.

3. Lunar New Year Celebrations
The Lunar New Year at this annual event is always busy and colourful! Expect dancing, music, martial arts, street food and of course the traditional lion dance. There are also activities inside the store for those who prefer a quieter atmosphere.

Learn the art of fire lighting. Find out how to build a good fire and what materials are suitable. Then toast a marshmallow to make a 'smore to finish off the session. This activity is suitable for ages 6+. Other half term events include story walks and history tours for teenagers.

Join Designer Sam Wilde and Director Ian Nicholson to craft-a-long and build your way through the story, meeting paper dragons, corrugated pirates and cardboard space robots in this stem skilled, hands on, interactive, time travel adventure! The Cherry Orchard is Madame Ranevsky's favourite place and tonight she's saying goodbye one last time before moving house. A heart-warming, moon-dancing adventure – with a nod to Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard – full of puppetry and music. Suitable for children aged 6 months - 4 years and their families.

A family activity day on the theme of ships. There will be arts and crafts, an opportunity to experience some of the activities sailors got up to at sea, trails and much more! Afterwards, follow a map to navigate your way around the M Shed galleries in search of treasure and historical finds.

A free board games day where you can stay for one game or the whole day! The café will be open for drinks, snacks and hot food to keep you going through all the board games. Other half term events include a puppet workshop and a Lego day.

Based on the Bristol Old Vic's half term family show, The Farmer and The Clown, these fun workshops will help you connect with one another through laughter and play. Live music, crafts, dressing up and trails!

10. Woodland Tales with Granddad
Something is happening in the woods. Machines are gathering at its edge and a mysterious call is heard across the valley. Laura the ladybird, Jeffrey the spider, Brett the woodlouse and Willoughby the woodpecker are worried. Velda the vixen knows there’s only one person who can help them – Granddad. But is there enough time? Can they save the wood? And will the mystery stranger help? A magical puppetry show for ages 3-8 and their families.
